Leksand Church Choir
The choir has always had a varied repertoire. We have sung folk tunes, often by Hugo Alfvén’s hand, but more generally peaks of the choir literature. Thus already from 1937 Bach’s Passion of St Matthew was performed annually for a numbers of years. Today our choir still sings folk tunes, but we are not foreign to Irish music or jazz. Currently we have performed Bach’s Christmas Oratory, Mozart’s and Faurés Requiems as well as Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem have also recently been performed. An exciting milestone was to sing Frank Martin’s Mass for double choir.
Our choir is looking forward to every third year be able to make a journey to other countries to convey a bit of Swedish choir tradition and Swedish choir music.
